As soon as I was able to join, 17.
What is like being a crew member?
Amazing! Down the station we are like one big family, everyone looks after one another, and we always have a good time, but when the pager goes off we drop everything and help those in need which is always rewarding.
How do you feel when you get called out in the middle of a cold winters night?
The adrenaline is pumping!
How long does it take you to get to the Lifeboat station?
It roughly takes me about 5 minutes to get down to the station.
How long does it take to get the lifeboat in the water?
From the moment the pager goes off it takes Brighton between 6-8 minutes which is very fast!!
What is it like in the lifeboat when the weather is really bad?
It can be scary at times, but I am normally more focused on getting the casualty to safety so I forget about the conditions. However at night time a nice cold rain shower really wakes you up!
What made you want to join the lifeboat crew?
The lifeboat has always been a big part of life - due to my dad being on the crew previously and now being station manager. Therefore growing up around the station it was obvious I would join when able to.
What does your family think about you being on the Lifeboat?
They are very proud of me.
